Bento update

I have not been taking many photos of our bento recently. Things have been quite hectic (I'll update on why later) and many of our lunches were packed on the fly or were brainless repeats from previous lunches that didn't really warrant new photos. Strawberries and cherries featured quite prominently in our bento the past few weeks (not really apparent here). In fact, I've been keeping a constant supply of them in the fridge since they are currently in season and are the most delicious, flavoursome and cheapest fruit around. Got to make the most of them while we can!

Bacon and cheese quiche on a bed of salad leaves, strawberries, cherries and piggy container of salad dressing.

Potato and cucumber salad, cherries and strawberries, maki sushi (leftovers from dinner) and bunny container of soy sauce

Stir fried sugar snap peas and peppers, nori wrapped chicken cakes (I made extra with dinner), and rice with furikake.

Cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, cocktail sausages, potato salad with egg and spring onions

Rice mixed with salmon furikake, meatballs, tamagoyaki (Japanese sweet omelette) with spinach, and edamame.

This might seem like a stupid question, but do you microwave your bento boxes, in that same box?

Looks great!

Where do you buy your bento boxes? I've been looking for appropriately-sized and divided ones forever!

Gorgeous boxes. These are such motivators for putting together my own.

lovely lunches and healthy too! may I ask where you purchase the sauce bottles from?

Veggiegirl: Thanks :) It's going to be like that for a couple more week, and then I'm going on holiday!

Eatingclub Vancouver: Do you mean the white/opaque containers? They are Lock n Lock containers and are perfectly safe in microwave or dishwasher so yes you can just pop it in the microwave. I personally eat my lunches either cold or at room temperature (no microwave at work!) The black box is a more traditional Japanese design and although it said can be microwaved without the rubber inner lid, they are not always safe.

Little Corner of Mine: The animal picks do brighten up the box :)

Shop Little Gifts: I bought the containers from eBay sellers. Do a search under 'bento accessories'. Or browse Jbox.com

Noble Pig: They tend to just make me hungry, heh.

Noobcook: Tsk tsk, so you're a 'night owl'? ;) The picks are nice for party food too.

Sassy Chef: Do you mean the white Lock n Lock boxes? I bought them from John Lewis, a department store in England. You should find Lock n Lock in most department stores or homeware shops. They are so sturdy and watertight, I love them.

Cook in Panda: It's good to make your own lunch. Healthier and saves money! :)

Didally: Quiches are an occasional treat for our lunches, they are not that healthy with all the buttery pastry! Yummy though...

Charming: Thanks! The sauce bottles were bought from eBay. Look for 'bento boxes' or 'bento accessories'. Or browse Jbox.com
